Untuk Youth Gone Wild ada post mortem kat sini. Beat kena slow kan sikit, lagu ni nak dengar bass line dengan drum kena tight?firm and steady in every each note! Kalau nak kasik dengar tu, dua dua orang main kena rilex dan "berkomunikasi".

Hairul, tolong study balik lagu ni. Cuba ikut sebaik mungkin. Nak simplify boleh tapi mesti on count dan sedap. Ara, tolong menyanyi jangan bergulung gulung nanti aku punya goreng
nampak tak hebat! Hahaha Poi, try to adapt dengan Hairul punya beat?even if he is not following
the right pattern, but if he already reached the limit?.this is the best we
must do. Work together to blossom the beauty of the song in our own way. Tapi
kena tepat dan sedap! Aku, will work on backing vocal dan some part nak kena polish, dok
terhegeh hegeh lagi ni..hantu belum mari!

Band Idol MBSA 2008

Alhamdulillah, in overall, it was a satisfied performance for Sapphire in the qualifying round, held last weekend. This yearly event expected to grab the attention most of amateur local bands to take part. According to the official organiser, the participation response were great & have seen many talented bands turning up showing their music talent.

Opening on last Saturday, Sapphire started the round on the Sunday morning session immediately after the registration counter opened. None other bands were there, at 2nd Level MBSA (Unit Kebudayaan Section, where we were the 1st band participated on that day. Everything was going quite well & I think we've carried the good morning mood of the 3 senior judges of MBSA, with the So Lonely, cover song by Loudness.

Ara's vocal though a bit flat at the beginning, but we guess it was so unnoticeable as he managed to cover up it back immediately. But overall, the high pitch vocal thrown by Ara has stunned the judges to focus on our playing till the end. With the clean playing & great tone blastering out the Roland amp, Nazri was complimented for his playing style by one of the MBSA official. Poey & Khir also seems to tightly paired together which made the song a real compact, solid & perfect along the way.

Hopefully we manage to win the judges's score & get thru' to the next round....adiosss!!! Long Live Sapphire!!!

Ara On Stage

This photo taken while Ara was performing at PWTC in front of estimated 10,000 crowds. His live performance that night has catched the interest of audience, which then BMG Record is bilieved to offer him a recording apportunity...right after Ara finished at the back stage..

But the 2 hours show was a real hot performance when crowds were started to act wild. The scene was rather too extreme as Ara taken off his shirt & surprisingly there was a Cicak Man badge right at his center chest. Knowing such an uncontrolled situation, the event organiser has called up the security guards & pulled Ara to the back stage.

Police has also coming over to the place & Ara has been suspected to positive drug taking. He finally was apprehended & bilieve to has spent that night in lock up. Even worst that Ara is now under the police parrol & suspended from appearing at any public stage for 3 months....ekekekekek...

MBSA Band Competition 2008

MBSA function ni diorang buat secara tahunan.. 4 peringkat....saringan (selalunya diorang buat dekat bangunan MBSA)..pastu buat show kat Tasik Shah Alam...pastu kalau lepas masuk semi...time ni kena ada lagu sendiri...kalau lepas lagi...masuk final.

Sapphire dah pernah masuk sekali..last year. Line up dia...aku (lead), Hairul (kaki pukul), Ara (Bass) an Ery (vocal)... Saringan lepas...originally we all di jadualkan perform dalam bulan May 2007. Tapi aku dijadulkan jugak oleh company tempat keje aku utk pergi ke Bangkok for 3 month within that month..So aku mintak reschedule dengan MBSA...depa sempoi...senang saja nak berurusan...so kami depa schedule main dalam bulan April.

Pada persembahan kat tasik ari tu, Zul Yahya dia punya emcee...gila rock siot dia punya outfit!! Kuikuikui.. Sapphire punya performance...tak la hebat gila...tapi cukup bagi si Zul Yahya tu ikut berjoget! Kami bawak lagu Analogy 01 (Search) dengan Awang Thrasher (Wings)...
Tapi ari tu kami tak menang...huhuhu...ABDT dengan lagu depa Bunga Angkasa....dan Black Widow dengan penjara janji yang memang...

But anyway, diorang memang tight! Biar pun slow lagu dia tapi sedap di dengar.
Tapi cerita sapphire tak berenti kat situ saja...dalam bulan September lepas tu, MBSA panggil balik utk ke peringkat seterusnya...hahaha..walaupun tak menang pada peringkat awal tapi aku ingat pasal judge tu kagum dengan rambut Ara time tu...kami dipanggil semula...tapi apa kan daya...aku ada kat Bangkok masa tu...so, Sapphire terpaksa menarik diri.

So..this year Sapphire akan try lagi sekali...dengan Mat Poi sebagai basist...Ara sebagai tukang sorak...dirasakan Sapphire akan lebih mantap untuk tahun ini.
Tapi lagu yang dipilih kali ni...pasti LELEH!!!! So nak pi tengok camana Sapphire "MELELEHKAN" jiwa ... pi la kat bangunan MBSA ahad ni (Jan 27) pukul 11 pagi....

Yantoi - CD Teknik Bermain Bass Review

Pusing2 kat Plaza Alam Sentral semalam singgah kat satu kedai CD..terjumpa CD si Yan Lefhanded...in person bersama beliau dgn menunjukkan bakat dan skil beliau memetik gitar bass. Rasanya video tersebut di rakam pada tahun 2006 kut...rega beli RM19.90

Permulaan cd menampilkan sesi jam Yan bersama budak2 dia di studio...drummer dia rasa cam kenal...tapi saper tah???? derang main 2 lagu yaitu 1. Semangat Lamina 2. Seruan....Lepaih tue baru sesi bersemuka dgn Yan...diakhiri dgn temuramah bersama Loloq..

Namun agak menghampakan sebab overall video rasanya tidak diplan secara professional....main hentam kromo jer.... bahannya pulak tidak ler spt mana yg diharapkan....takder apa sangat pun ilmu yg diturunkan.....rasa membazir jer duit!!!! Tapi takper la...at least boleh tengok fingering dan coding Yan masa lagu Seruan...sebab lagu nie salah satu lagu yg kitorang main.....the rest tue leh lar dapat teknik sikit skil slap....grooving....dan 2 handed playing...

Sapphire Updates - Next Practise Session

Dijangkakan Sapphire akan berkumpul di Orange Studio Sek 26, pada Ahad ini jam 5pm. Since few competitions are just around the corner, we'll push a bit harder for the preparation. Experience in BOTB in Sg Buluh last year hopefully can guide Sapphire to be more presentable on stage. Songs selection is yet to be finalised but definitely we'll tailor suit with the organiser's requirement. But, can give a shot on few covers that we currently playin, or maybe will find other good songs to experiment.

Disamping tue jugak, Poey sedang mengumpulkan articles dan info di net utk mendalami ilmu utk membuat recording secara DIY. Mungkin boleh diguna pakai once every tools day ready utk kick off nanti. But for now...need to upgrade PC kat umah dulu bagi sesuai dgn requirement yg minimam.... processor, hard disk, ram capacity, sound card, mic dan record software are among the initial investment yg akan dibuat soon!!

Poey jugak bercadang utk upgrade gear sedia ada...probably Behringer Bass V amp modeler akan digrabbed together with practise amp....ini semua adalah bagi memudahkan practise dan juga proces recording nanti....

Selain itu, Poey juga plan utk menambah sebijik gitar electrik for self collection..juga utk tujuan recording dan song writing....insyaallah !!! Kalau ader rezki lebih2,,,,,ekekek

Back To the Scene..

Errrmmm...this blog was so silent for the past 2 weeks...Poey was just coming back from vacation..& apparently other members also having their own occasions, that the jamm session has to be postponed. Yet to finalize the actual date, but perhaps Sapphire can continue practising on this 30th Dec or 1st Jan. We gonna add a new instrumental track from Steve Vai... a song called ' Cryin Machine' + 'Suara Kita', Wings cover.

Woit korang!!!Tangan dah gatal tul nie...tarikh dah firm ker????? On the 30th noon, insyaalah ako bley......kalo tak leh, New Year pung ok gak...adioss..

Ara In Person

This handsome guy, grown up in Tk Intan Perak, is the Sapphire lead singer. He was actively singing since his schooling years & has gained few recognition in singing battle/competition around Klang Valley.

He was also the band bass player well before Poey joined, having a 5 strings Washburn Bantam Series, in collection. This talented guy is a damn real rocker & putting Michael Vescera as his die hard idol.

Ara at his early 30s of age, is married with 2 beloved sons & now happily staying in Puchong Perdana with the family, while having his office based in Shah Alam.

Poey Bass Guitar - Close Up

The guitar was bought somewhere in Aug 2007 at Bentley for abt RM2,500, all in, together with Gator hardcase & Fender strap. It was a Korean made & so far quite satisfy with the finishing quality & tone produced. Perhaps, BTB555MP is a real value buy & among the top model in it own class, suit to those middle entry players like me :) The Maple/mahogany/maple body construction retains the warm low-end of mahogany but adds the slightly brighter response of two sections of maple.
